November is here… and almost gone again! What happened? I mean, weren’t we just celebrating Christmas? I swear, time goes by faster every year. Now if you’ll just give me a minute, I’ll breathe in, breathe out; breathe iiinn, breathe oouutt. Okay, now maybe I’m ready to accept the coming of Christmas – maybe. #notreally

I’ve got a pretty great recipe to share with you today AND get this: it’s NOT sweet. Say what?! (I’m afraid I’m going to have to shortly break the sempre (always) promise in the blog name…)

1. It makes A LOT.
2. It’s great for parties.
3. It’s so tasty it’s addicting.
4. It’s good to make for the holidays (especially if you have house guests) and is easy peasy to throw together. 
5. It’s one of those things that you can make and then snack on for forever.

The lowdown: This blend of mixed nuts, Chex cereals, and pretzels with a touch of spice is a snack that will be sure to complete your holidays, from Thanksgiving to New Years. Great for gatherings and perhaps even gifts, this snack mix will be sure to please on many accounts!

Stuff 'n Clutter Snack Mix

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. (1 stick) butter
  • 1 C. bacon drippings (it's a good excuse to make some bacon, right??)
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp. Accent flavor enhancer
  • 1 (16 oz) bag pretzels
  • 1 (14 oz) box Wheat Chex
  • 1 (12 oz) box Rice Chex
  • 2 C. (heaping) Cheerios
  • 1 lb. mixed nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to °200 f.
  2. Place first 6 ingredients into a medium sized sauce pan and place on simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a large (actually, XL) bowl, add reaming ingredients.
  4. Pour sauce over Chex mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture into large roasting pan and bake for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Let cool completely before serving and/or storing in an airtight container.
  7. Enjoy!

    YAY! I'm so excited to find someone else with a version of this recipe in their family history! Complete with bacon drippings for flavoring! Thanks for sharing this and representing !

      I'm so glad you found it! It's like this cake recipe we have in our family; there isn't another one EXACTLY like it on the web anywhere, so it's a good thing we still have the original or else we would be stuck... Enjoy!
